Tent at The Locks

I keep seeing a lot of men crawling in and out of the brambles near the far west end of The Locks parking lot.  I decided to check the area out after seeing a huge pile of trash continue to grow.   This parking lot is known as a high car prowl area.   Please keep calling about the trash around this area.

Bikers Beware

A bike was hit tonight by a car in front of Little Coney on Seaview.  I'm pretty sure he wasn't critically injured.  He was transported away on a backboard with a neck brace.  This is a pretty standard procedure.  Hopefully all is well.

Trash Begets Trash

Trash begets trash.  Please help by continuing to report areas that have recently turned into dump zones.  Fixing minor maintenance issues quickly, shows that a neighborhood "cares" and helps push crime issues out of the area. Welcome to our New Neighbor

Welcome to our new neighbor.  This family oriented bus is our newest addition to the campground established near and around DSHS.  I counted 24 RV style campers within a two mile radius.  Here's a video clip.

Cops Scatter Bergen Place Bugs

Cops were called Sunday evening to visit Bergen Place Park.  A woman was flashing people when they passed by the park on foot.  I happen to be riding my bike past the park around 6:00 PM and saw at least 15 people in the park.  It was a motley crew.  I took one ceremonial loop through the park just for the heck of it.  My wife wouldn't go anywhere near it.

Around 6:30 PM my wife spotted two cops walking a beat.  She said, "Did you see those officers?"   I didn't believe her.  She told me again that there's two policemen walking down the street.  I said, "I have to see this with my own eyes."  I had a nice chat with the officers.  It was great to see them walking our sidewalks.   Keep calling !

Truck and/or trailer can't be over 80 inches wide

SMC 11.72.440 Parking Enforcement.

A. Official signs, including temporary signs, that prohibit stopping, standing or parking shall be enforceable according to their terms twenty-four hours after posting.

B. No person shall park a vehicle on any street or other municipal property for a period of time longer than seventy-two (72) hours, unless an official posted sign provides a shorter period of time, or unless otherwise provided by law.

C. Authorized vehicles on municipal property are excluded from the provisions of this section, as are vehicles displaying valid proof of payment when parked in spaces controlled by a parking payment device.

D. This section shall not apply to "junk motor vehicles" or "abandoned junk motor vehicles" as defined in this Chapter.

E. Vehicles in violation of this section are subject to impound as provided for in Chapter 11.30 SMC, in addition to any other penalty provided for by law.

SMC 11.72.070 Commercial and large size vehicles.

No person shall park a vehicle on any street or alley, except in a Manufacturing or Industrial Zone as defined in the Zoning Code of Seattle (Ordinance 86300 as amended)1 between the hours of midnight and six (6) a.m. if the vehicle is a truck and/or trailer or other conveyance which is over eighty (80) inches wide.

SMC 11.14.268 Junk motor vehicle.

A. "Junk motor vehicle" means any motor vehicle meeting at least three of the following requirements:

1. Left on private property without the permission of the person having right to the possession of the property;

2. Left on a street, alley way open to the public, or on municipal or other public property for twenty-four (24) hours or longer;

3. Extensively damaged, such damage including but not limited to any of the following: A broken window or windshield, missing wheels, tires, motor, or transmission;

4. Apparently inoperable;

5. Having a fair market value of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) or less;

6. Without a current certificate of registration or a current and proper vehicle license.

B. Vehicles in Violation of this Section. Junk motor vehicles are subject to impoundment as provided for in Chapter 11.30 SMC in addition to any other penalty provided for by law.

Thanks to one of our Friends for sending these photos.   If you live near or around these two reported vehicles, please report them again.  The RV is parked at 26th NW and 75th Street. The car is located at 28th NW and 77th.   The squeaky wheel gets oiled!

The Locks

Please help by reporting unattended trash at The Locks.   We're currently having a lot of activity around The Locks.  There's sometimes nine to twelve men at a time hanging out on the railroad tracks directly behind The Lockspot Cafe.    Please help by calling the city to pick up trash in our public parking lots and call Ballard Terminal RR co. Camper on 48th Moved & Campers Row

I'm happy to report that the camper on 48th NW and his trash have moved on today.  Thank you Seattle Police for your very prompt response.  You'll see in the photo, the old Plymouth is gone for now.  Please keep reporting and posting.  Below is a video clip of Campers Row.  These campers are chronically parked on the outskirts of the Department of Social and Health Services building.  At any given time, there are at least 10-12 campers.  These RVs aren't being moved every 72 hours.  Why should they move, they like it here.  Please contact DSHS and ask their Director, Thomas Shapley to be a good citizen and seek a short-term and long-term solution to this prolific campground.   We need a consorted effort here.   Please take the time to select a few RVs and record their tag numbers, the date, and the location of their parking choice.  Short-term, we want campers to know that the law requires them to move every 72 hours.  Long-term, we want the city of Seattle and the state of Washington to address this epidemic.   These people need a remote site dedicated to them away from residents and businesses.  The new site needs comprehensive social services provided to qualified residents of the state of Washington.  Non-residents need to seek support in the state of their last employment or birth place.

Human Scat Alert

Watch where you step near the Ballard Storage Building on 48th.  There's an old Plymouth pickup truck camping here.   The truck has a camper with a broken back window.   A bag of trash is sitting at the rear bumper.   A guy is sleeping in the cab of this truck.  What appears to be human scat is in the strip between the sidewalk and the curb.  Another old camper is parked right behind it.  The truck's tags expire this month.  By the looks of it, it's hard to imagine that this truck will start.
